Day 193: Recording Session

Today I had a recording session for the Indiegogo video! It should be the final one we need to do unless we need to take other tapes. I think it went pretty well and hopefully we’ll be able to put that part of the video together soon. I still need to get footage of woods before that part can be edited but I might get a sound editor to start working on the voice-overs first. I haven’t decided yet.

Tomorrow I’m going to go back to practicing the Indiegogo pitch by shooting a video of myself. I plan to do that for the rest of the week: by the time I shoot with a crew, I’ll hopefully be able to do a better job selling the project on camera. People who learn about the project are interested in it so that’s a hopeful sign that we’ll be able to get the funding to shoot the film.

Day 191: Indiegogo

Indiegogo Video Pitch:

So today for the first time I tried shooting the video. I didn’t do the whole thing: turns out shooting a video by yourself really slows things down. Anyways, I did learn some things from today. The first is that I have a lighting issue: since I have no lights of my own, it didn’t look as well as I would like. The second is I’m not sure if I was necessarily any good in presenting the material. This likely means I will be reshooting the material but at least I believe that I’m getting good actual practice on tape. I don’t yet know if I’m going to continue filming it, find a way to pay for a crew, or do something else.

Indiegogo Video Teaser:

I’ve started to work with the other actor in finding a time to schedule a recording session next week.

Indiegogo Page:

No progress since the video took all my time today.

Day 189: Indiegogo

Indiegogo Video Pitch:

The big news for today is I am definitely going to be shooting the video on Friday since it looks like the boom mike stand will arrive mid-day tomorrow. This gives me an extra day to prepare so hopefully I don’t have to do any reshoots. Other than that, I spent the day going over the audio recorder so I am adequate to use it come Friday.

Indiegogo Video Teaser:

I have yet to hear back from the actor I picked for the last role. If I don’t hear back by Monday, I’ll go with someone else.

Indiegogo Page:

I continued to make some changes to spruce up the page. I’m also thinking of adding a photo and maybe Jeff so that people see how we look like without watching the video but I haven’t decided that yet.

Day 188: Indiegogo

Indiegogo Video Pitch:

Today I set up the camera equipment in my apartment: the tripod and camera are both ready for when I shoot! I also rehearsed a bit in front of the camera. The only thing left is the boom mike. I ordered a mike stand that should arrive by Thursday. If it doesn’t then I can hold off shooting the video until Friday.

Indiegogo Video Teaser:

I had a successful recording session with the actress I picked for Odessa! I think she did a great job! Finally, I also contacted an actor for the last remaining role: Computerized Message. I’m hoping to work out a recording time with him soon! Overall, almost done with this part of the teaser.

Indiegogo Page:

I added a bio for Jeffrey Santos on the Indiegogo page. I also re-organized some of the materials, changed pronouns so that we’re a team, and in general I worked on the page to get it closer to launch.

Day 187: Indiegogo

Indiegogo Video Pitch:

I worked on rehearsing for the video pitch some. I plan to set up the camera/tripod tomorrow so that I can start practicing in front of the camera: I won’t actually record but this way I have a better idea of how it’s actually going to be like shooting in front. I think based on my schedule, I will be shooting the video on Thursday. This gives me enough time to get a haircut and a few other things I still need to do to get ready.

Indiegogo Video Teaser:

I have a recording session scheduled for tomorrow. I also went through the list of finalists for the Computerized Message one more time and I likely will be casting that role tomorrow. I’m hoping to then set up the recording session by the end of next week at the latest.

Indiegogo Page:

I continued to work on the Indiegogo page, making some edits that I think are important and will lead to a better page. I’ll continue working on the page throughout the rest of the week.

Day 186: Indiegogo

Indiegogo Video Pitch:

I continued to work on the video pitch by rehearsing my lines. I’ve also laid out my clothes that I’m going to wear for the pitch video and washed them to make sure they were clean. I then ironed the shirt. Not exactly the most exciting update, I know, but it was nice to get the wardrobe ready now rather than next week. At this moment, I am planning on filming the video Wednesday or Thursday.

Indiegogo Video Teaser:

I’ve been working with the mother of the actress I cast to schedule a recording session. It looks like she’ll be able to do it, which is great as it means one less character to worry about. I believe I’ll cast the last role at the beginning of next week. Not a lot of other progress on this front.

Indiegogo Page:

I did some work on the Indiegogo page. I didn’t really do much beyond that: I do plan on adding the pie chart next week.

This wasn’t a big day but we are getting closer to being able to edit together the Indiegogo video.

Day 185: Indiegogo

Indiegogo Video Pitch:

I did two things related to the video pitch. The first thing I did was continue to practice the lines, getting the script down as much as I can and as natural as possible. The second thing was also start to think about where to place the trip and how to capture the sound: after all, I won’t have someone holding the microphone. I might look into getting a mike stand to hold it.

Indiegogo Video Teaser:

I got approval for the role of Odessa and I have sent out an e-mail today. I’m hoping that she’ll be free to play the role and to get that recording session done by the end of next week. The only role left to cast is the Computerized Message role and I’m hoping to also have that done soon.

Indiegogo Page:

I kept working on the page. It improves little by little, every day. Today I did make some changes in language in the first part of the page to try to explain the project a little better: as well as to sell the team.
