Day 14: Script Progress: Act One

Today is pretty exciting because I can finally report that I have started writing the actual script! The prep work is done and now all I have to do is execute it! This is going to take a while but it’s so nice to get started.

It should be noted that when you write a script, it can take a lot of creative energy to do even one page. After all, you want to get every line as right as you can-even in early drafts of the script! You want to make sure every character is not only acting in character but advancing their agenda. If you are me, you want to make sure that every scene is filled with as many good jokes as possible. In other words, you have to spend a lot of energy crafting every single sentence.

I don’t want to give much away so these entries will be very short. Depending on time, I might discuss things relating to the project. It probably won’t happen for a few days as I have a whole bunch of errands to run.

Progress on the Script:

Pages: 7/120 (5.83%)

Scenes: 5/81 (6.17%)

Acts: 0/3 (0.00%)

Act One:

Pages: 7/30 (23.33%)

Scenes: 5/22 (22.73%)

As you can see, I’ve made a lot of progress into Act One even though it’s ultimately very small progress into the actual script. Like any big project, that’s why it’s important to break the goal up into tiny steps.
